Today we got up early, figured out how to make breakfast for 4 in the trailer (granola and milk), drank camp style coffee which was delicious, ran the dogs around a little and got on the road. We drove by the Bonneville Salt Flats which look otherworldly, saw the Great Salt Lake and then entered the beauty of Utah and the Wasatch mountain range. Utah is just breathtaking with the red rock formations and and the mountainous roadway. When we hit Wyoming I literally saw why they call it Big Sky Country. The sky and the cloud formations are vast.
Now we are settled in Nessie at a KOA enjoying each others' company, but WE ARE TIRED. This is a strange way to see the country; it is zipping by us through the windshield of our car. I feel like we are getting a snippet of America rather than the schooling I was hoping for. But, we are on a time frame that requires this speed. We can get away from the Silicon Valley crazy schedule but we don't seem to know another way to do it yet.
But, we are keeping our eyes on the prize. Today Kiel and Carly sent us a video right before we pulled into the campground of Tala rolling over for the first time. I forgot how much parenting a little one is finding excitement in their normal developmental accomplishments. Tala looked up at her mama holding the camera and beamed. Thank you technology for making it possible for the grandparents, the aunt and the uncle to share the pride in (almost) real time.
And about pictures...we have 'em. We did not take into account the sluggish nature of the internet outside of Silicon Valley. We have been spoiled. There will be a day in the not so distant future that we will inundate you with photos.
Tomorrow...Colorado! We are now 28.5% completed in our journey to Virginia.
